European Beauties rule Global

Europe is known to house some of the most breathtakingly beautiful women in the world. On the top of the list is Elizabeth Born on June10, 1965 she is the cajole of all eyes. Wanting to be a dancer, Elizabeth Hurley went to ballet boarding school at 12, but soon returned home.After college, Hurley worked in the theater and made her screen debut in Aria (1987). When Hugh Grant was picked up with Divine Brown, Hurley became headline news. Added to this was the fact that she was the model representing top cosmetics house Estee Lauder.

Next on the list is MonicaBelluci. Born in 1964 in the Italian village of Citta di Castello, Umbria, Bellucci originally pursued a career in the legal profession. While attending the University of Perugia, she modeled on the side to earn money for school, and this led to her modeling career. In 1988, she moved to one of Europe's fashion centers, Milan, and joined Elite Model Management. Although enjoying great success as a model, she made her acting debut on TV in 1990, and her American film debut in 1992's Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992). Her role in the 1996 French thriller, Appartement, L' (1996), shot her to stardom as she won the French equivalent of an Oscar nomination.

Asia turning world's brain centre

The boundaries to scientific and technological innovation are crumbling and the West can no longer rein in the geographical shift. First came the trend of corporates moving R&D centres to low-cost countries, now a more important shift in fundamental research to universities is taking place.
From a largely western hue, the doctorate workforce — which drives innovation — is changing colours. The US share in world PhDs is falling, and a large proportion of those trained in the US are actually foreign born — mostly Asian. In science and engineering (S&E) in ‘02, international students received 19.5% of all PhDs awarded in social and behavioural sciences; 18% in life sciences; 35.4% in physical sciences, and 58.7% in engineering. The share of foreign born students in master’s and bachelor’s degrees awarded in S&E in the US is also considerable. This points to the huge dependence of US industry on foreign scientists.
At the same time, the production of S&E professionals around the world — but specifically in developing countries like China and also to a lesser extent India — is rising. In 1975, from nil doctorates in science and engineering disciplines, China graduated 13,000 PhDs in 2003 — 70% of them in science and engineering. At this pace, China will produce more S&E doctorates than the US by ‘10; while the US share of world S&E PhDs will fall to about 15% by then, from 30% in the 1970s.

Diamond Merchants- Beware of China !!

Chinese authorities have cautioned Indian diamond merchants against joining an illegal diamond exchange that is coming up in Gaungzhou, the largest city in south China. Amazing Photo :Day & Night at same Time !!!

This photograph was taken by the crew on board the Columbia during its last mission, on a cloudless day. The picture is of Europe and Africa when the sun is setting. Half of the picture is in night.


The bright dots you see are the cities' lights. The top part of Africa is the Sahara Desert . Note that the lights are already on in Holland , Paris , and Barcelona, and that's it's still daylight in Dublin , London , Lisbon , and Madrid . The sun is still shining on the Strait of Gibraltar . The Mediterranean Sea is already in darkness. In the middle of the Atlantic Ocean you can see the Azores Islands; below them to the right are the Madeira Islands ; a bit below are the Canary Islands; and further South, close to the farthest western point of Africa , are the Cape Verde Islands. Note that the Sahara is huge and can be seen clearly both during day time and night time. To the left, on top, is Greenland, totally frozen.

Getting to know India's Tennis sensation

After an impressive season in 2004, in which she collected numerous ITF Circuit titles and became the first Indian woman to win a WTA Tour title by winning the doubles at Hyderabad, Sania Mirza has made even more breakthroughs in 2005.
In January, she reached the third round at the Australian Open as a wildcard before losing to eventual champion Serena Williams, becoming the first Indian woman to make it that far at a Grand Slam. In February, she became the first Indian woman to win a Sony Ericsson WTA Tour singles title by winning at Hyderabad in only her fifth career Tour main draw.
Finally, last week at Dubai, she achieved her biggest career match win when she defeated reigning US Open champion and world No.7 Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia.
